Ruth's face was pinched by her sharp manicure, and Ruth was crying miserably.
I was Ruth's mother, and I had no idea when Eddie took her away!
I was upset and restless all night.
And Ruth suddenly had a high fever as if she shared my emotions.
Eddie drove away the only car in the villa.
I carried Ruth downstairs, wanting to take her to the hospital, but the housekeeper stopped me.
"Mrs. Ford, Mr. Ford said you couldn't go anywhere without his permission."
Eddie went to see Angela while trapping me here.
I was full of sadness. I laughed coldly and cried uncontrollably.
Ruth's fever was severe, and no matter what I tried, her body temperature was still high.
Helpless, I went to the housekeeper again.
"Ruth is sick. I have to take her to the hospital. If you're afraid I'll run away, you can send someone to follow me."
The housekeeper was very stubborn. "Mrs. Ford, sorry. I don't have Mr. Ford's permission."
He suggested that I should call Eddie.
But after the phone rang for a long time, it was finally answered, and Angela's voice came through.
"Gloria, now everyone is shipping me and Eddie.
"You're calling him now? Aren't you worried I'll tell everyone that you covet him and want to take him away from me?"
She thought I wanted Eddie to come home.
But I just wanted to save Ruth.
After a pause of a few seconds, I said to her as calmly as possible.
"Angela, my daughter is sick. Give the phone to Eddie now. Tell his men to let me go!"
"Go?" Angela sneered. "Gloria, if you were willing to leave, you wouldn't have stayed at the Ford family for seven years.
"I know exactly what you're thinking. This is your way of keeping Eddie around!"
She was about to hang up.
I could only stop her and beg, "Angela, please believe me. I really didn't mean to ... disturb you!
"I just want to save my daughter. She's sick..."
Angela hung up the phone before I finished speaking.
Before hanging up the phone, she grinned.
"Gloria, she's sick, not dead. What's the use of pretending to be pitiful by using her as an excuse?
"Besides, even if she dies, Eddie won't leave me. We're going to do role-play tonight. I'll be the teacher, and he'll be my student."
Eddie wouldn't let me leave.
I stared at the cold rain outside, wrapped Ruth and me in a blanket, and opened the window.
I heard muffled thunder, and the walls were wet from the rain.
