On Friday night, I bought a lot of food, planning to make her a big dinner.
But when I got home, she and Jude were having a candlelight dinner.
She simply ignored my presence and helped Jude with his food.
Jude gave me a challenging glance, took her hand, and bent down to kiss her lightly.
I was instantly furious and came at him, but she violently pushed me away.
"You have no right! Get lost!"
"You are my wife! Do you know what you are doing?"
"What I do has nothing to do with you! There's nothing left between us, and you wouldn't get a divorce, what's wrong with you? I'm telling you. I will never forgive you, and I will never love you again! Give up on that idea!"
Her cruel words broke my heart.
There was no love left in her eyes, only endless hatred.
I wanted to leave, but when I thought of her father's last words, my heart softened.
To not get me involved in the fraud, he gave me a sinecure, isolating me from the mess of his company.
When he was dying, he asked me in tears to take good care of his daughter.
It was my responsibility, and I had no reason to shirk it off.
"Know your place, stop pestering Mia! You hear me?"
Jude pointed at my nose boldly. It seemed now as if he was Mia's husband and I was the other guy.
I was fuming so I kicked him off his chair and starting punching and kicking him.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head, my vision went dark, and I almost fainted.
I looked back and saw her holding a half-broken bottle of red wine in her hand.
"Try touching him again!"
I looked at her in disbelief. I never thought she would do such a thing to me, for Jude's sake.
"Fuck you!"
Jude took the opportunity to get up from the ground and punched me in the face.
I was knocked to the ground, but she just stood there coldly.
Her attitude put off my last glimmer of hope.
Perhaps, from the very beginning, I fell for the wrong person.
I was beaten by Jude and curled up on the ground, unable to move due to the pain.
He didn't stop until he was exhausted and out of breath.
"Mia, throw him out! I don't want him disturbing us!"
She thought for a moment and shook her head.
"Mia! He killed your father! Do you still have feelings for him?"
Jude was adding fuel to the fire.
She said nothing, turned and walked to the balcony.
I felt a little comforted. She still cared about me, right?
