My brother also lost his qualification as a detective who could wield a gun.
Yet, they still found nothing.
"That fucking beast! What a heartless bastard!"
Unable to contain his anger, Captain Lewis cursed, his face turning blushed.
"Does he think we can't do anything to him like we couldn't eight years ago? Today's technology is much better than what we had back then! He won't escape this time! If we can't catch him, I will resign and go back to my hometown!"
He clenched his hand tightly on the conference table, with veins pulsating at the corners of his eyes.
My brother's eyes were filled with pent-up grudges.
Worried that he might lose control again, Captain Lewis reminded him,
"If it's the same person from eight years ago, I suggest you stay out of this for now. Take a few days to rest and protect your sister."
My brother nodded slightly but took a moment to respond,
"Freya just graduated and was planning to travel abroad with her classmates. I'll continue with the investigation."
Upon hearing this, Captain Lewis' expression darkened.
"Harry, don't forget who your real sister is! Look at what you've been doing for the past eight years. What would your father think if he learned this?"
My brother became somewhat annoyed by the reprimand.
"I know my family affairs better than you do. Molly could betray me, but she would never put herself in danger. She has done such a thing eight years ago!"
The sarcastic tone in his voice hurt my feelings, causing pain in my heart with each breath.
Seeing this, Captain Lewis rubbed his throbbing temples.
"Molly is not that kind of girl. I didn't figure out exactly what happened in that case back then. However, even if it's as you said, your father traded his life for Molly. Why can't you cherish her for your father's sake?"
"After your parents passed away, she is the only family you have in this world."
My brother's eyes turned crimson, tears shimmering.
No matter how much time had passed, whenever that case was mentioned, he would still lose his composure.
My brother roared, "As long as I'm alive, I'll never acknowledge a family who betrayed my father!
"I no longer have parents, and I don't care if I lose that heartless sister!"
It seemed mentioning my name was an insult to our parents.
