"Calm down, Kayla. Wesley is still too young and reckless. I believe Ryan doesn't want to see you fight."
After saying that, he pulled me away regardless of the angry Kayla.
This was another of Max's usual tactics. He believed my disappearance would drive the idea that Kayla believed I killed Ryan.
Max pulled me to my original room.
As soon as he entered the room, he stopped pretending to be a gentleman and kicked my belly.
"Wesley, you see? Whenever I stir up trouble, Kayla will doubt and hate you."
I rolled on the ground in pain.
"Max, don't worry, I won't compete with you for her anymore, and so won't Noah."
Max lifted me up with my collar and fiercely said, "Why did you say that name? You mention this name to Kayla, and I will kill you."
Noah Mitchell was Kayla's first boyfriend and also the reason she rejected Max so many times in the past.
He was very good to me and even better to her.
Unfortunately, he was killed in a plane crash when he went abroad for further education.
I could still remember how peaceful Kayla was when she received that news.
Her heart was about to be shattered into pieces.
Max hated me because, as her stepbrother, I could still win her heart. As for Noah, he would even want to kill him again even though he was already dead.
To him, Noah was someone he could never win.
I apologized to Noah's ghost that I still had to implicate him in this mess after he died.
Looking at Max's distorted face, I smiled viciously.
I knew he was suppressing the anger in his chest.
He pinched my neck.
"What are you laughing at? Are you laughing at the fact she doesn't love me at all? Wesley, you are really too naughty. You have to pay the price for your behavior."
Then, he smashed the mirror and cut his hand hard with the shards.
When he had done this, he threw the fragment, stained with his blood, at my feet.
Max cried out in horror when he saw the blood gushing out from his hand. "Kayla, Wesley attacked me. He tried to kill me!"
When Kayla rushed to us, he had already fainted due to excessive blood loss.
Glaring at me, she called an ambulance before scolding me.
I followed her to the ambulance, hesitating whether or not to explain.
But Ethan's suggestion lingered in my mind, and I kept my mouth shut.
Along the way, Kayla looked at me with disgust.
