This was the first time I didn't lose my temper with her when she stood on Matthew's side.

Jane took a few steps forward and held my hand to stop me for the first time.

"Why didn't you arrange with me about my work these days but instead asked the assistant to contact me?"

I had blocked Jane for so many days. If she had spared me a little of her concern for Matthew, driven to the hospital to see me, or just given me a call to ask about my situation, she would not have asked such a stupid question.

"I have already resigned. Didn't you see the agency's announcement?"

Jane's face froze. Apparently, she had even paid no attention to this because she had been keeping Matthew company, whose dog had died, these days.

How ridiculous.

In Jane's heart, my mother's last wish and my life couldn't even compare to Matthew's dog.

"Why did you resign? Just because I didn't go to see your mother? Matt's dog got injured so badly that it couldn't afford any more delays. Can't I go to see her at another time?"

Jane didn't care in the slightest and still thought I was being unreasonable until now.

I no longer had the slightest desire to talk to Jane and dodged her hand that was about to touch me.

"Then you can continue to take care of Matthew's dog. We'll have nothing to do with each other from now on."

I didn't want to waste any more time on Jane. I brushed past her when I left resolutely.

However, she grabbed me by my hand abruptly.

"I'll give you a pay raise. I was being careless this time. I'll go to see your mother next time. Will that do?"

Jane still believed I was throwing a tantrum because I was jealous of Matthew.

Honestly, I didn't blame Matthew for Jane's infidelity.

After all, it was Jane's fault for being unfaithful.

Seeing that I remained silent, Jane's tone became colder.

"I've already apologized. What else do you want?"

"I want nothing but a rest. I just felt tired."

"Yannick, can you stop making a fuss out of nothing? You know Matt is suffering from heart disease. Can't you make compromises and treat him better?"

I was amused.

Because of Matthew's heart disease, he could always get Jane away from me with just one phone call.

But what did another man's illness have to do with Jane's relationship with me?

Jane and I had quarreled countless times for Matthew's sake. Now, I was too exhausted to argue with her anymore.

I looked at Jane calmly without saying anything.
