My Husband Killed My DadChapter 1

My husband bought a villa for Addison, but Addison wanted to redecorate it because she thought the decoration was not good.

He handed the decoration project to my father and asked him to complete it within three months.

My father thought it was a new house we moved to and he worked day and night.

On my father’s birthday, the temperature was 39 degrees and I knew he was working on the construction site.

I wanted to bring a cake to celebrate his birthday, but I ran into my father lying on the concrete floor without a heartbeat.

I called my husband more than a dozen times until he finally got through, “What’s the matter? I’m very busy now and I don’t have time to talk to you.”

At the same time, a gentle and complaining voice came to my ear, “When will the villa be decorated? Hurry them up, I can’t wait!”

I cried and replied in a low voice. “Come back and let’s get a divorce.”

——

I wiped my tears, dragged my tired body and silently handled my father’s funeral alone.

When the staff handed me the urn, I didn’t even realize that it contained my father.

Not long ago, he was still telling me to give him a grandson as soon as possible, because it was too boring to be alone.

But now he would never urge me to give birth again.

Darren did not return home until the next night.

“I brought you a midnight snack, your favorite crayfish and Coke, eat it quickly!”

He put the bag of things on the tea table in front of the sofa as if nothing had happened, slumped on the sofa, untied his tie and leaned toward me.

I glanced at the bag and it was obvious that he had packed it with his childhood sweetheart after eating crayfish.

He was always like this. Whenever he made me unhappy, he tried to coax me with my favorite midnight snacks or things. And I, always feel soft-hearted, thought that he had bowed his head and admitted his mistakes, giving me a way out, so I would calm down and not care.

I turned sideways, with my back to him, my eyes were already swollen from crying.

Seeing that I didn’t move for a long time, he frowned slightly and softened his tone. “There were indeed some things to deal with yesterday. Can’t you be considerate of your husband? I am out doing business every day.”

He reached out to lift the strands of hair hanging in front of my eyes and I slapped his hand away fiercely. I realized that Darren was so good at lying, as if I had just recognized him at this moment.

My heart ached when I thought of my father working so hard to decorate his childhood sweetheart on the construction site in a high temperature of 39 degrees. He knew that my father retired early because of his heart disease, but he lied to my father and said that he was decorating the new house we bought and coaxed him to come back to do this project.

It was because my father was honest, professional and responsible and wanted to give his childhood sweetheart the best. Seeing that I was still angry, he thought I was throwing a tantrum with him and sighed helplessly.

“Okay, okay, as compensation, look at what this is?” He blinked his eyes and took out two Justin Bieber concert tickets and handed them to me.

“You’ve been waiting for a long time. I bought it from a scalper at a high price. I’ll go with you to see it this weekend. Don’t be angry with me, okay?”

Since his childhood sweetheart came back, we had always gone out with three people, whether it was watching a movie or going out to eat.

He always said that Addison had no friends, so taking her would be more company.

The two concert tickets he threw at me were not just two.

I sneered coldly, picked up the two tickets, tore them up indifferently and threw them in his face.

“Darren, take your childhood sweetheart. I won’t accompany you anymore!”

I stood up and prepared to leave, but he grabbed my hand tightly and pulled me into his arms.

“Penelope, what are you doing? Addison… I just treat her as my sister, why do you have to be jealous?”

I broke free from his hand and slapped him in the face with my backhand.

His pupils dilated in surprise. He didn’t expect that I would actually hit him for the first time.

He looked down at me, his eyes were fierce. He grabbed my wrist and spit on my face. “Penelope, without your father’s discipline, have you grown up? You even learned domestic violence.”

“Don’t mention my father to me! You don’t deserve it!”

I was furious, my face flushed. Darren, the indirect murderer, killed my father and now he dared to mention him.

“Call your father now. I want to tell him what’s wrong with your daughter and let him discipline you!”

Darren threw me to the sofa and my head hit the wall next to me, which made me see stars for a moment.

“Dad has already…”

I covered my head and trembled. Before I finished speaking, I was interrupted by Darren.

“Forget it, don’t let dad worry about it. Can you be more sensible? Just calm down and I can pretend nothing happened.”

After saying that, he slammed the door and went into the second bedroom. Every time after a quarrel, he would take the initiative to sleep in the second bedroom and start cold violence until I compromised.

I covered my swollen and painful head and my heart was cold.

If I had known it would be like this today, I would never have agreed to his proposal.

Chapter 2

Darren and I met because of my father.

When I was ten years old, my mother was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and urgently needed money for surgery. Originally, the surgery fee could be raised by waiting for my father’s payment.

But the company refused to pay the debts and my father had nowhere to turn to. Seeing that my mother could not be treated in time, he was anxious to ask for help everywhere.

In the end, it was Darren’s father who gave me some emergency money and kept my father to work in their company.

My father was originally a loyal and honest decoration master. With this favor, he had been working diligently in Gray Company.

In my senior year, I went to the construction site to find my father, but unexpectedly, one of the brackets was unstable and fell straight in my direction.

I realized it later and when I reacted, my palms were sweaty. It was Darren who pushed me and blocked me.

He was accidentally hit and blood oozed from his back.

“Are you okay? Hector should not worry.” After saying that, he fainted on my shoulder.

It turned out that he was practicing with his father and learning some decoration things.

Later, my father took me to see him and I took care of him for a while.

We gradually became familiar with each other, until the day he was discharged from the hospital and returned to school. I ran into him head-on on the playground.

I knew we were in the same school.

He began to find excuses to ask me out for dinner, to take a walk on the playground in the evening and to go to the library to write graduation papers together.

Until my father saw me walking with him, he said to me, “Darren is a good kid, but our family is average. Their class pays attention to matching. You and him are not suitable. Such families are easy to be bullied. Keep your distance from him.”

I began to become sensitive and inferior, slowly stayed away from him and avoided him.

Until that day, I ran into Darren on the way home and a man with a knife suddenly ran out beside me. He stabbed Darren without saying a word.

I didn’t have time to think, so I grabbed his hand and tried to snatch his knife. Fortunately, I practiced a little Taekwondo and was quite strong, although in the end I still got a cut on my right hand.

That was Gray Company business rival, who targeted the future heir because of bankruptcy.

Darren hugged me tightly, his voice anxious and crying. “Why are you so stupid? Don’t you want to live?”

It was not a serious injury, but he asked me to be hospitalized and stayed by my side.

On the day of discharge, he knelt down at the gate and proposed to me and I nodded greedily.

Darren was very good to me and he put me first in everything. He was so good that even my father put aside the class gap.

I carefully maintained this greedy happiness and treated Darren twice as well.

It was not until his childhood sweetheart returned to Linkon that everything changed.

She was divorced by domestic violence abroad. After returning, her father died in an accidental car accident and her mother fell ill.

Darren said that she was now helpless and had depression symptoms and he couldn’t ignore her.

So he arranged her to be his assistant, gave her a high salary, took her on business trips and even booked a double bed in a room. He said Addison was afraid to sleep alone and they were innocent.

He spent more time with her than me, as if I was the third party.

I didn’t expect that my tolerance would lead to my father’s death because he tried to please Addison.

I really hate myself. If I had left him earlier, would I have avoided losing my father?

Chapter 3

After packing all the gifts, I went to the study to print out the divorce agreement, signed it and put it on the coffee table in the living room.

The cemetery had been chosen long ago, right next to my mother and I was ready to take my father’s ashes to bury him.

When I was holding an urn in my hand and dragging a suitcase, I was about to open the door and leave when I was stopped by Darren’s angry voice behind me. “Penelope, stop right there! Are you going to run away after this?”

He rushed over and blocked my way.

“Explain to me what’s going on. When did you become so jealous? Have you learned to join your father to take revenge on Addison?”

He put a video of Addison being touched on the buttocks by an old man in front of me.

The man in the video had his face sideways and his face was not clear because of the distance, but his figure was very similar to my father.

It was obvious that Darren had put the blame on my father without checking for his childhood sweetheart.

It was ridiculous. My dad trusted him so much and always treated him like his own son and apprentice. He ended up like this with his sincerity. I felt really bad for him.

I suddenly knocked his phone away and glared at him fiercely. “You have to explain to me why you lied to my dad to work for your little childhood sweetheart at the construction site?”

Darren seemed to have his true face exposed and his angry and red face instantly showed a bit of embarrassment.

“Penelope, I just told my dad that there is an important project recently and asked him to help keep an eye on it. As a supervisor, to control the quality, so he showed up at the construction site.”

Darren was still making excuses.

Because I was busy with the villa design recently, Darren was not satisfied with the design of the master bedroom and the courtyard and changed it back and forth for several versions. Now I thought about it and realize that the project was for his little childhood sweetheart.

I didn’t have time to contact my dad for a while. I just remembered that it was my dad’s birthday the day before yesterday. I wanted to go home to give him a surprise, but I found that he was not at home, so I called him.

It was very noisy on the other end of the phone. It was the sound of construction, but my father’s joyful voice was still clear. “Penelope, Dad is here at your and Darren’s new villa. Dad will decorate it for you as soon as possible, I guarantee you will be satisfied!”

I knew as soon as I heard it that Darren had lied to Dad that it was a villa for his childhood sweetheart.

I couldn’t bear to let Dad worry about me and Darren and I didn’t want him to know that our relationship had broken down. After all, it was me who insisted on choosing Darren. If Dad knew now, he would only blame himself for not stopping me.

So I prepared to carry the cake to celebrate his birthday and persuade him to go back in person, but who knew that when I arrived at the scene, I saw a group of people surrounding him.

I pushed through the crowd and the cake was squeezed to the ground. Dad lay straight on the ground, his hands were shaking badly, but I still did CPR and desperately called for people to call 911. But in the end, I couldn’t save him.

My father was originally just a supervisor, but Darren urged him to make progress every day. Dad thought that he could do more and did it himself, forgetting that he couldn’t be overworked. He was still moving bricks in the 39-degree high temperature and he died suddenly.

Chapter 4

“Darren, why did you lie to my dad and say it was a new house for us?”

Darren picked up the phone on the ground and dragged me into the house.

“Penelope, what are you talking about? I never told my dad that it was our new house. I just said that it was a house for a very important person, so he should spend more time on it. You found out that I decorated the house for Addison, so you teamed up with dad to bully Addison, right? Why did you become so petty? Addison has a tendency to be depressed. If you make such a fuss, she will have a mental breakdown again!”

I hugged my father’s urn tightly and gritted my teeth.

Addison was really good at tricks. Now she was directing and acting by herself, wanting me and Darren to break up so that she could get what she wanted.

It was just a pity that my father was killed by them a long time ago. She didn’t have to spend so much effort to grab this position. I would give it to them.

“That man is not my father. Don’t you know what kind of person my father is?”

I shouted and refuted weakly. Even if I said that my father had passed away at this time, he would not believe me anymore. He would only think that I was making excuses for my father.

“I called Dad more than ten times and he didn’t answer. Isn’t he guilty? Normally, whenever I call him, he will answer immediately!”

I didn’t know when, Addison stood beside Darren, crying, very aggrieved.

“Darren, don’t pursue it anymore. After all, he is Penelope’s father. There is no result if you pursue it further. It will only destroy your relationship. I don’t want this. I will bear it myself and it will pass.”

Darren wiped her tears with heartache and looked at me disappointedly, with an unbelievable face. He must have thought that my father and I became like this because of jealousy.

“Penelope, apologize! And call Dad over!”

The strong, commanding tone was chilling.

He pushed Addison in front of me and waited for me to apologize to her.

“Hmph! Bitch! Who gave you the right to slander my dad!”

After saying that, I raised my hand and used all my strength to slap her twice.

Two red palm prints instantly appeared on her fair face, tears welled up in her eyes and she fell to Darren in grievance.

Darren caught her, the veins on his neck were exposed and he finally couldn’t bear it anymore, so he raised his hand to my face.

But he stopped, pushed me hard and fell to the ground.

“Penelope, I didn’t expect you to become this person I don’t recognize. You really disappoint me!”

As he said that, he waved his hand and signaled the two men standing beside him to help me up and control me.

“Someone needs to reflect on herself, lock her up in the room.”

This was the way Darren treated disobedient people, locking them up, not giving them food and water, until they compromised and admitted their mistakes. This was how he used to treat his disobedient and rebellious brother.

Now he used this method on me. I was in a hurry to bury my father and no one could stop me!

Chapter 5

I struggled to break free from them and my high heels stomped on their feet.

They let me go in pain and I immediately hugged the urn and ran to the door without even bothering to take the salute.

Darren rushed up quickly and grabbed my wrist.

“Penelope, where do you want to run to? What are you holding all the time?”

He used his other hand to grab the urn and I held it tightly in my arms with my back to him.

The two men quickly grabbed me again and Darren used his strength to pry open my fingers one by one and snatched my father’s urn.

I almost begged him, my voice was hoarse. “Darren, give it back to me! That’s my father’s ashes!”

He opened the box, shaking it and sneered coldly. “Penelope, why are you so vicious? In order to atone for your father, you cursed him? Isn’t this just powder ashes?”

I watched him shake my father’s ashes all over the floor and I wanted to catch it, but I couldn’t break free.

My eyes were blurred with tears and I wailed in pain, “Darren, my father is dead! Dead! Killed by you! Why do you still want to desecrate his ashes like this! You asked me to call him, but you went to the underworld to call him! Give my father back to me!”

Darren saw me so hysterical for the first time and he panicked for a moment.

Signing them to let me go, I fell to my knees and picked up my father’s ashes.

The heart-wrenching pain. My father was in such a miserable state now.

Darren’s phone rang and the person on the other end of the phone stammered, “Boss, we found the construction site. Mrs. Gray’s father died suddenly the day before yesterday and Mrs. Gray has cremated him.”

Darren’s body swayed and he fell in front of me, his face twisted and painful. He moved the corners of his mouth in disbelief.
