I am a mortal, yet I have lived for hundreds of thousands of years.
The Demon Alpha discovered me through the Moonstone Mirror — I am his Fated Luna, the one destined to birth the strongest werewolf ever known, a wolf powerful enough to unite all packs under one rule. The one destined to carry his child.
The thought alone made my stomach churn, but I had no choice. His presence alone was overwhelming.
I understood that he needed an heir, and I was his chosen vessel, so I dared not have any stray thoughts.
The Alpha took me from my human world and into his pack’s territory, ensuring my immortality by feeding me from his own lifeblood.
Day after day, the pulse of his energy kept me alive, kept me from aging, kept me bound to him.
He wanted me to stay, to last until I bore him a child.
But mating with wolves like him—pure-blooded and powerful—it was difficult to conceive a child with a mortal.
He tried tirelessly, night after night, for hundreds of years. It wasn’t until recently that I finally carried his seed—a future alpha in my womb.
His joy was boundless. He declared me his Luna, and both I and the unborn child became the treasures of the pack.
His large hand would rest over my belly with a possessive look with his eyes gleaming with that intense, predatory look that always made me uneasy.
“Whether it’s a son or daughter,” he would say, “they will rule after me. They will inherit my position as Alpha.”
To protect us, he sent me to the pack’s forbidden lands, a sanctuary where no one dared to tread.
Only the most trusted wolves could cross the boundary, and even then, only during in emergencies.
No one was allowed to approach — except for him.
He visited often, making sure I was safe and attending to my needs.
Here, I was safe—until a guest wolf entered the territory.
A drunken Immortal wolf who was a guest stumbled into the forbidden lands. The Alpha detected his presence.
Enraged, the Alpha killed him, his actions igniting a bitter war between the Demon Pack and The Immortal Pack.
The difference between these two packs lay in their cultivation method.
Blood flowed freely. The blood of countless wolves flowed freely, leading to the rising tensions between both packs.
In order to quell the conflict, the Pack Leader of the Immortal Wolf tribe had to offer a treaty, which included giving his own daughter, the infamous she-wolf Lila, as a consort to my mate—the Alpha.
Lila was renowned for her beauty and her fiery temper, as wild as the wolves she led.
Lila was arrogant, relying on her lineage, and her status, to do as she pleased. It didn’t take long for her to cross into the forbidden lands, leading her pack mates, who were more like her cliques, with her.
I remembered the sharpness in her voice when she found me.
“Who is this pathetic human? And hiding in our sacred territory, no less?” She sneered as she approached, with the wolves at her side. “And what is this? A bastard child in her belly?”
Her words stung like a whip. She accused me of sleeping with the guards, of carrying a child not worthy of our Alpha.
Before I could even comprehend what was happening, she barked an order.
“Cut her open! Rip the child from her womb.”
I didn’t even have the opportunity to comprehend what was happening; everything was happening fast and before I knew it, her cliques descended on me.
Not thinking twice about the Morality of Lila’s orders.
Sometimes I forget that, unlike me, who is a human, wolves like them rarely take such things as morality into question.
The pain that followed was unimaginable. Her cliques attacked me, their claws tearing through my skin, slicing into me until I could no longer fight. Blood pooled around me; my limbs were destroyed.
Lila hovered over me, her twisted smile growing wider as she watched me suffer. Just as darkness overtook me, the Alpha appeared. But it was too late.
The Alpha arrived with the most powerful wolves of the six packs gathered behind him, watching in silence as Lila stood over me, a twisted grin on her face.
He had arrived, too late to save me, but just in time to witness Lila dangling the tiny, blood-soaked body in front of him, her voice dripping with triumph.
“This is the mortal who dared to seduce our Alpha,” she spat, holding up the lifeless body of my unborn child. “As for this,” she continued, referring to my dead child in her arms, Is the result of her mating with a Rogue’s spawn.”
“You should thank me for ridding you of this disgrace.”
My body trembled at her words, but I couldn’t say anything or muster any strength.
I lay dying, my vision fading, the world around me blurring into shadows. I couldn’t help but wonder if this was how I was going to die. I felt it was a pity. I couldn’t avenge my dead child and here I was, going to accompany him soon.
---
Three years into my pregnancy, I had felt the life inside me stir for the first time. As the months went on, the fetal movements became stronger, more insistent, like the beating of war drums inside my belly.
I could feel it—my child was coming.
A vision descended from the moon itself, a sign of the child’s importance.
Lying in bed, I waited, my body aching with the effort of labor. But just as I thought I might finally bring my child into the world; I heard voices outside the cabin.
“The Alpha comes here every day,” said an unfamiliar voice, hushed but brimming with curiosity. “I want to see what treasure he’s been hiding.”
Another voice followed, filled with uncertainty. “But this is sacred ground. No one is allowed to enter, not even us.”
“Yes, Lady Lila,” came a third. “The last time someone wandered in here, the Alpha killed him without hesitation. It caused a war between the Demon Wolves and Immortal Wolves. Should we really be doing this?”
I felt a chill run through me, hoping the voices would leave before the Alpha returns.
But Lila’s voice rose above the rest. “Who cares? I’m the only one worthy of the Alpha’s attention! He won’t dare punish me.”
My heart raced. Whoever these wolves were, they had to leave—immediately. I knew what would happen if they didn’t.
Blood would spill again, just like it had years ago when the elder wolf had strayed too far.
Frowning, I pushed myself out of bed. The Alpha had made sure no one disturbed me here, especially after the fetus reacted violently to anyone who came too close. He cared for me himself, driving away even the most trusted of his pack.
But now… someone had crossed the boundary.
I struggled to my feet, ignoring the pain that shot through my body, and made my way to the door.
The moment I stepped outside, I froze. Lila stood before me, her face a twisted mirror of my own.
Her eyes locked onto mine, and before I could say a word, her hand shot out, slapping me hard across the face.
“You bitch! How dare you look like me and hide in the Alpha’s domain! Do you think you can compete with me for his favor?”
Her eyes glittered with fury, a storm brewing behind her gaze.
CHAPTER 2The sudden slap made my head buzz. I felt my ears ring and my cheeks tingle at the pain.
“How could a powerless mortal without any spiritual abilities enter the werewolf realm?” one werewolf sneered.
“She must’ve slept with some lowly guard to sneak in, and that’s why she’s pregnant,” another one spat.
“Mortals are truly disgusting. Just because they resemble our Lila, they think they can hide here to seduce the Alpha?” One werewolf chimed in.
“Tsk, a wonder to whoever fed her the idea that she could seduce the Alpha.” Another said with a snort.
The cruel words stung, but I could piece it together: that the one who looked like me must be Lila and the people behind her whose mouths didn’t seem to rest, must be her clique.
For centuries, the Alpha, who could have had anyone, chose to spend every day with me. He never spared another glance at any other female.
So, when the Alpha ended the war because of Lila, I had my suspicions. Now, I understood the truth and his reason. He sympathized with her because she bore a similar resemblance to me. That’s what had tugged at the Alpha’s sympathy.
At that moment, Lila stood in front of me, her face contorted with anger. “You lowly mortal! You think just because you have a face that vaguely resembles mine, you can use it to seduce the Alpha?”
Lila’s arrogance reeked. I could even smell the stench from far away, but knowing she didn’t understand the full picture, I chose not to react to the slap. Instead, I decided to warn her, my voice firm but calm.
“The Alpha isn’t here. You should leave before he returns. This is the Hall of Shadows, not a place for you…” I paused, using my eyes to hint at the people behind her, “and them to come here.”
Lila became more annoyed by my words.
Lila scoffed, grabbing me by the throat. “The Alpha loves ‘me’. There’s no corner of the werewolf realm where I can't walk freely. And you, a mere mortal, think you can push me out because you’re afraid I’ll uncover your little scheme to seduce him?” Lila made sure to emphasize heavily on the word ‘Me’
Lila’s voice dripped with venom. “Today, I’ll make sure you learn what happens when you try to steal from me!”
I suddenly felt anxious, my heart rate spiking up. I could tell with the look on her face that she meant anything but well.
I wished for nothing more than having strength. The strength to beat them till they recognized who I was and were able to defend my position, instead of relying on the Alpha.
Maybe, if I was strong enough, then I wouldn’t be facing the humiliation I currently faced.
With a swift wave of her hand, Lila’s energy surged like a gust of wind, knocking me into the air and slamming me hard onto the ground. I didn’t have any strength to resist, so I could only clutch my belly, curling up in pain.
I looked up at Lila with cold eyes. I regretted not having the power to defend myself and my unborn child.
“You’re reckless,” I said in a rasped breath. “Aren’t you afraid the Alpha will find out?”
Lila laughed, unimpressed. A mocking sneer appeared on her face. “The Alpha fell in-love with me at first sight. Everyone knows he ended the war for me. Do you really think he’d care about you, some insignificant mortal?”
Lila’s attendants chimed in with mocking smirks. “Right! Everyone in the realm knows the Alpha only has eyes for Consort Lila. Who do you think you are?”
“The Alpha is the ruler of five of the Nine Werewolf Clans,” another sneered. “He has had many like you—lowly women trying to seduce him.” Suddenly the werewolf speaking paused. A venomous glint flashed in her eyes, but I caught it. “Let’s make an example of her today.” The werewolf continued.
They circled me, their eyes gleaming with cruelty. I spoke through clenched teeth, trying to mask my pain, but it didn’t seem to help as it only gave them joy. “You should ask the Alpha who I really am.”
Lila’s lips curled into a disdainful sneer. “You?! A mere mortal sneaking into the Hall of Shadows? You think you’re worth asking about?”
She turned to her clique, “Hey! Ever heard of this trash?”
Her clique shook their heads, some giggling. Some even praised Lila as someone humorous.
“I am the Alpha’s chosen mate,” Lila declared. “The cherished daughter of the Immortal Alpha Wolf. You think you can compare to me?”
She knew her rank wasn’t as high as Lila’s, but the words still stung. Before she could respond, Lila looked around and smiled darkly. “This hall could use a touch of red.”
Confusion clouded her mind until it dawned on her. The other wolves understood immediately. With wicked smiles, they turned their energy into whips, lashing out at her.
As a mortal, her body couldn’t withstand their relentless attacks. The whips tore at her skin, leaving her covered in blood and bruises. She couldn’t fight back—her only instinct was to curl up and protect her belly.
Enduring the unbearable pain, she screamed through gritted teeth, her voice raw and desperate.
“Stop! I am the Queen of the Werewolf Realm!”
CHAPTER 3When they heard those words, everything around us went still. Even Lila’s clique paused, their eyes flicking between each other, uncertain of what to do next. Lila, the ringleader, stood off to the side, glaring at me with narrowed eyes, her predatory stance clear.
“You said you’re the Demon Alpha’s mate?” she sneered.
I straightened my back, keeping my voice firm. “That’s right. If the Demon Alpha finds out what you’ve done to me, he won’t let any of you live.”
I believed I’d made things clear enough. Surely, Lila and her werewolf clique would see reason and back down. But instead, laughter erupted from them like the howling wind.
“This pitiful mortal thinks she’s the Demon Alpha mate? She must be out of her mind!” One of them sneered.
“Because she looks like Lila, she dares to act like the Demon Alpha’s chosen mate! Does she really think anyone here would believe her?”
“Everyone knows the Alpha only favors Lila. How could a lowly mortal like you even dream of being his Luna?”
I couldn’t help but glare back at them, my heart pounding in my chest. Lila’s eyes gleamed with malice as she smiled cruelly, her fangs glinting in the dim light.
“I thought this tramp might have a few tricks up her sleeve, sneaking into the Nine Shadow Pack’s den like that,” Lila said, tilting her head. “But it turns out you’re just a brainless fool.”
The surrounding laughter only grew louder, cutting into me like the claws they wielded so proudly.
“You claim to be the Alpha’s mate, yet you’re stranded here, in the forbidden lands, all alone,” Lila mocked, stepping closer. Her eyes traced the curve of my belly, still swollen with the child I carried. “No power, no pack... what makes you think you’re anything special?”
She raised her hand and motioned towards her clique, who immediately bared their claws, readying themselves to tear me apart.
“Take her down. Cut off her limbs. Let’s see how much she can still talk after that.”
My breath caught in my throat as they advanced. These wolves were unaware of the reason behind the deserted territory. It wasn’t because it was uninhabitable—it was because the Alpha had forbidden anyone from coming near. He wanted to keep me hidden, waiting for the day I would give birth to his heir. He’d planned everything meticulously, preparing to announce to all the packs that our child would be the Lord of the Nine Realms.
But Lila and her pack didn’t believe me. Their claws gleamed in the moonlight as they drew closer, and I felt a rising panic. I shouted, desperate to make them see reason. “I’m really the Demon Alpha Luna! If you don’t believe me, ask the Alpha yourself!”
They ignored me. Their claws flashed, slicing through the air into my limbs. Agonizing pain shot through my body as, one by one, my limbs were severed. I could feel my strength draining, my vision blurring. The only thing keeping me conscious was the life force of the Demon Alpha still burning inside me.
Lila laughed, covering her mouth with her hand as she looked down at me, now reduced to a broken heap. “Look at her—no hands, no legs, and still trying to protect her enormous belly like some kind of kingpin!”
I gritted my teeth, glaring at her through the haze of pain. “You’ll regret this,” I hissed.
Her eyes flickered with amusement. “In the Nine Realms, no one makes this wolf regret anything.”
Then, with a wicked grin, she stepped forward and plunged her claws into my belly, tearing through my skin like it was nothing. I gasped as the pain threatened to overwhelm me, my consciousness slipping in and out. But even through the fog, I saw it—the moment she pulled my son from my womb, his tiny body covered in blood, yet fighting, his hands flailing in protest.
Lila stared at him in surprise. “A mortal’s child, and yet so full of life?” She scoffed. “But in the end, you’re nothing but a mongrel. You’ll taint the bloodline of the Demon Wolf Pack, and I won’t allow it.”
Fear surged through me. “Please!” I begged, my voice barely more than a whisper. “He’s the Alpha’s child—don’t hurt him.”
Lila’s smile twisted into something darker. “The Demon Alpha’s child? How ridiculous. No mortal could carry his heir without being torn apart.” The others laughed, their voices echoing cruelly around us.
I tried to protest, but my strength was fading. The Alpha had kept me alive, nourishing my mortal body for centuries, trying to make me his equal. But now, it didn’t matter. I was powerless against them, and Lila knew it.
“You think that after killing my child that your status will save you? If anything happens to him, the Alpha will destroy all of you. He won’t stop until the Nine Realms are in ruins,” I gasped, hoped my words would make them hesitate.
But Lila only smiled more cruelly. “The more you beg, the more I want to kill him.”
With that, she slammed my son to the ground. I screamed, writhing helplessly on the ground, trying to get to him—but I had no limbs left. I was nothing more than a writhing worm to them, a helpless creature to be toyed with.
“How is he still alive?” one of the wolves muttered as my son, impossibly, continued to move. His tiny hands reached out, still defiant, still fighting.
Lila’s fury only grew. She stomped down on him again and again, but each time, my son survived.
“Why won’t you die?!” she screamed, unleashing the full power of her Heavenly Flame. The blaze engulfed my son, the heat searing the surrounding air.
I watched in horror as the fire consumed my child. I could feel my heart shattering into a million pieces. He was our heir, the culmination of centuries of effort, and now he was being annihilated before my eyes.
Tears streamed down my face as Lila finally turned away from the charred remains of my son. Her face twisted with satisfaction. “That sinful seed is finally dead.”
Just as her pack began to cheer, thunder rumbled in the distance. A voice, deep and filled with rage, echoed through the sky.
“What are you doing?!”
The Demon Alpha had returned.
