New Year's Alumni Reunion: My Performance of Torturing Scumbags1

Not the Prom Queen but a joke

***

I, in a sweater and boots, pushed open the door and walked into the private room at eight o'clock in the evening, immediately seeing Betty and Lila dressed like fluffy roosters.

Betty raised her chin, sizing me up from head to toe, a hint of disdain curling her lips.

"Oh, look who we have here! It's our former prom queen, Aurora! This is a high-class place, why do you show up in a sweater? And where's your bag?"

Lila chimed in, "Prom queen? She's just a big joke! Her family went bankrupt long ago. Where would she get money for clothes and bags? She probably took the bus here. How embarrassing!"

"Does Miss Aurora take the bus? She's probably ignorant like those silly sweethearts in dramas who don't even know how to use a bus card."

This kind of scene played out countless times in the university dormitory. The room was full of our university classmates, all with a look of suppressed laughter, and some even laughed out loud.

My only good college friend, Wendy, stood up to speak for me but I pulled her back down.

"Sorry, I was nearby, so I just came over without bringing anything."

I was just in this restaurant earlier, so I didn't need to wear a coat.

"Don't brag. This is the most expensive location in New York, right next to the CBD. What can you do here in your current situation? Expect to get rich by rummaging through trash cans?"

As Lila said this, everyone burst into laughter.

In my sophomore year, my family's listed company went bankrupt, and our financial situation has rapidly worsened.

Lila, Betty, Suzy, and I shared a dorm room. In freshman year, they were all caring and considerate towards me.

But when they found out about my family's bankruptcy, they immediately gang up on isolating me.

Especially Suzy, who completely forgot about her own family's difficulties. I gave her 5000 dollars from my living expenses to pay her tuition.

When her parents came to school crying, demanding she drop out and return home. I also worked very hard to persuade them.

At this moment, Suzy hadn't arrived, so Betty and Lila, as her simps, naturally wanted to show their dominance over me.

Wendy rolled her eyes at the two of them.

I had sincerely considered them as friends, only Wendy knew how disappointed I was.

Just then, Lila excitedly pointed at the glass door. "Look at the handsome guy outside! He's holding a haute couture jacket and an Hermès bag. He looked rich and noble. His girlfriend must be so lucky!"

Everyone turned their gazes towards the door.

"He's really handsome. Such a perfect man. It's worth it to see him once in a lifetime."

Helplessly shaking my head, I used my phone to send a message. He was indeed my boyfriend, and it didn't feel good to be covet by too many people.

As he quickly left, everyone silently retracted their gazes.

Seeing me suppressing a smile, Lila mockingly said, "What are you laughing at? You wouldn't dare to say that's your boyfriend?"

Betty snorted, "Her boyfriend? A dropout from a bankrupt family who can't even be unwelcome in the dating Market!"

Betty then turned to Lila and asked, "Why hasn't Suzy arrived yet? I heard she recently had a superstar boyfriend who must be better than that man."

Smugly, Lila responded, "Of course! Her boyfriend is signed with a listed company. He is also valued by the boss. Can he look ugly?"

Lila's words aroused interest, and everyone began discussing Suzy's boyfriend.

Lila was even more ecstatic, enjoying the feeling of being the center of attention.

The highly anticipated Suzy finally arrived with her boyfriend.

Seeing the familiar face, I was momentarily surprised.

New York was really too small. Wasn't this my ex-boyfriend, the flatter and unfaithful one?

"We heard you guys chatting enthusiastically at the door. What funny things were you talking about? "

Suzy casually took off her clothes and handed them to her boyfriend, Adam.

Lila, like a peacock, continued to bat her eyes at Adam.

"Adam, how is your treatment at Star Entertainment? Must be pretty good, right? "

Adam smiled slightly, "Not bad. I just entered the industry, so the boss takes care of me."

This response actually affirmed Lila's assumptions.

"Just entered the industry and already gaining boss's attention. He must be the next top star in the future."

"Suzy is also outstanding, otherwise how could she find such a perfect boyfriend!"

"I heard Star Entertainment is valued at hundreds of billions, as long as the boss is willing to support Adam, becoming popular is just a matter of a few projects!"

All classmates praised Adam, envying Suzy's good luck. Suzy leaned on Adam's shoulder with a slightly smile. When she saw me, she was momentarily startled, as if she wasn't the one who invited me.

"Aurora, you really came. You are not as fragile as I thought."

Adam also looked over, and I raised my eyebrows and smiled at him.

"Long time no see."

It seemed that he forgot that Suzy and I were roommates in college.

"Aurora, why are you haunting me? This kind of behavior really troubled me. Aren't you afraid of Star Entertainment's legal letter!"

Adam and I were together in college. He persistently pursued me for a year. I thought he was good looking and his grades were good. So I decided to give it a try.

Maybe he was an unlucky man. Shortly after we started dating, my family went bankrupt.

Adam began to irritate my sensitive nerves and tried to control me.

"Your family is bankrupt. Besides me, who else will treat you well?"

"Be a good girl, I won't abandon you."

Then he wanted to take me to a hotel. I slapped him directly and wholeheartedly helped my father save the company.

We met again in a hotel next to my father's company.

He was passionately kissing with a bejeweled middle-aged woman in front of the elevator.

I politely reminded him.

"It's not good to do this in public. Please remember to go to the room next time."

After that, I completely cut off contact with him.

However, Adam started spreading rumors about me going to a hotel with a man.

Wendy told me about these things, otherwise I would have been kept in the dark.

Not long after, I decided to drop out and pursue further education abroad, ignoring those rumors.

Unexpectedly, I encountered him here.

Suzy mocked with a disgusted face, "Aurora, so you are the crazy stalker who has been entangling him since college."

"Stalker? Aurora?" The classmates were shocked, including me.

Suzy immersed herself in her own imagination. "During college, Aurora was obsessed with Adam, using her family's wealth to threaten Adam to accompany her shopping and dining."

"Adam is just too kind, not understanding how to refuse. Who knows she spread rumors that Adam was pursuing her and she even wanted to buy him for a night!"

Everyone looked at me mockingly, and Betty even tried to defend her good friend.

"Aurora is always like this, pretending to be innocent, but promiscuous more than anyone in private!"

Lila angrily said, "Betty, stop. I'm afraid of getting sick just living in the same dorm with this kind of person!"

Lila deliberately moved away a bit, trying to stay away from me.

Suzy smugly said, "Not only that, Adam also saw her being picked up by luxury cars frequently. Despite being bankrupt, she can still carry new designer bags. For the sake of vanity, she even flirted with old men without hesitation. How shameless!"

"Aurora, you're not young anymore. Why haven't you found an honest person to take over?"

"It seems like she's too promiscuous, afraid her dark past will be exposed. Even if she gets married, she'll probably be kicked out!"

"Originally, she could bully people everywhere because of her wealthy family. But now, with her current conditions, no one would dare marry her, even if she pays!"

Suzy lightly brushed her hair and had a contemptuous smile on her face.

Hearing everyone scoffing me this way, Wendy finally erupted.

"Spreading rumors comes with legal consequences. Whoever dares to talk nonsense, I will tear her mouth apart!"

Wendy was the only true friend I had in college.

She had been with me all the way, not flattering as I was rich or standing aloof as I was poor, until today.

"Wendy, Aurora is not rich any more. You are still simping for her!"

Lila didn't like Wendy, not just because of me, but also Wendy's crazy pursuer was her senior and secret admirer in college.

They secretly ranked girls based on looks and family background and spread rumors, like the wealthy girl was hypocritical and the poor one was promiscuous.

I heard them scold me as a slut and prostitute, worse than a whore.

In fact, they were promiscuous than anyone else.

At that time, my family got into trouble, I regarded Suzy as my spiritual support. But she made it known to everyone.

I hopelessly asked her why, and she directly changed her attitude.

"We are all adults, do I have to make it so clear? You're of no use to me anymore. I, Suzy never be friends with useless people !"

During that period, I walked on the campus, facing the whispers and pointing felt like being stripped naked.

Late at night, tears stained my pillow in the dormitory.

I didn't understand why the friends who I treated sincerely became the ones who hurt me the most.

Until I dropped out, I never spoke to them again.

Only Wendy stepped up to defend me against those rumors.

I could tolerate Lila's insult, after all, I didn't want to engage in arguing with those stupid people.

But Wendy was my friend, she shouldn't have to suffer for me anymore.

I directly restored. "Lila, you've graduated already. Stop the childish antics. If you want to bow down to Suzy due to your misfortunes, that's your choice, but Wendy is different."

Everyone was shocked.

No one expected me, who had silently endured bullying in college, to suddenly fight back.

Lila's face contorted with bitterness and rage, glaring at me, yet unable to utter a word.

Because I was telling the truth.

Suzy became anxious, "Aurora, stop to drive a wedge between Lila and me. I always considered her my bestie!"

"Who knows what you truly think in your mind? Why not dig your heart out and take a look?"

I didn't have the patience to argue with Suzy anymore.

Seeing that I was aggressive, Suzy changed her attitude and started acting innocent, looking at Adam in tears.

"Adam, she's so fierce! I'm scared."

The room fell into an awkward silence, with everyone too afraid to speak.

Adam, who just received compliments from the classmates, witnessed the beauty's tear and then directly slammed the table.

"Aurora! You are so confident to say this. You must be doing well. How about paying the bill tonight?"

This was New York's most popular restaurant, and those who could afford to come here were either rich or respectable.

I glanced at the dishes and drinks on the table.

Suzy was still the same as before, claimed she would pay for the bill, ordering the cheapest dishes, which add up to only fifty to sixty thousand dollars.

I couldn't help but feel embarrassed for her.

And her boyfriend, who ruined his body by accompanying a wealthy woman, couldn't even afford 50 to 60 thousand dollars worth of drinks in the end?

I pressed the service bell, instructing the manager.

"The expenses here directly deduct from my card, and change the wine to Macallan."

As soon as I said this, everyone was dumbfounded, and Suzy burst into laughter.

Adam also covered his mouth and couldn't help but laugh. "To deduct from your card, you need to spend 5 million dollars in this restaurant in one night to be able to store wine on the card. Who do you think you are?"

Suzy chimed in. "Changing to Macallan, acting like a queen? Ridiculous! It's okay to make a fool of yourself, but we can't afford to lose face!"

It felt great to teach those bullies a lesson.
