In Love With A LycanChapter 01

Chapter 1 : A Lost Love

The ballroom was bathed in a soft silver light, where every young, single werewolf of the pack had gathered to celebrate coming of age. Laughter and whispers filled the air, while music wrapped around every corner of the room. It was supposed to be a memorable evening, a celebration of a promising future. But for Clara, this night marked the end of a dream.

She kept glancing toward the door, her heart beating in an uneven rhythm. Her friends chatted around her, carefree, but Clara was elsewhere, caught up in an anticipation, a perhaps naive hope. She was here for him, her first love, the one she had shared so many precious moments with—teenage secrets and laughter in the forest.

A familiar voice startled her. “So, Clara, ready to light up the dance floor tonight?” asked Lila, her best friend, with an amused smile.

Clara forced a smile. “I don’t know, Lila. Maybe I’ll just watch this time.”

Lila frowned. “Watch? This is your last year-end ball, Clara! And…” She glanced around the crowd. “Isn’t that him over there?”

Clara slowly turned her head and felt her heart clench. He was there, with his radiant smile and the presence that always sent shivers down her spine. Her first love. But he wasn’t alone. Beside him was a young woman she didn’t recognize, looking at him with admiration in her eyes.

“Is that… her?” Clara whispered, barely audible.

Lila placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “I’m sorry, Clara. No one knew. I thought…”

Lila’s words trailed off, and everything became a blur for Clara. She watched, helpless, as he took the stranger’s hand and led her to the dance floor. She felt strangely empty, as if something had been torn away from her.

(Clara’s POV)

I couldn’t tear my gaze from him. My feet felt glued to the ground, and I was flooded with sadness, anger, and jealousy. How could he… How could he love someone else?

Their laughter echoed in my ears, each smile they exchanged stabbing me a little more. My whole world was falling apart. I thought back to every moment with him, every promise he made, and now it all seemed meaningless. Tears threatened to fall, but I refused to cry here, in front of everyone.

Clara finally looked away and walked toward an empty table, hoping to go unnoticed. But Lila followed closely, trying to comfort her.

“Listen, Clara, I know it hurts, but…”
