My Wife Got Engaged to Someone Else at My Birthday PartyChapter 1
Today was my birthday. My wife, Stella, held a grand birthday party for me. As the richest woman in Yorkshire, she held a birthday party for me with many dignitaries. With such a wife, I became the most enviable man in Yorkshire.
Even though many people talked about me as a gigolo behind my back, no matter who saw me, they would give me some face. I never thought that today would be the beginning of a nightmare.
——
The birthday party was about to begin. My wife, Stella, went on stage to speak. After a polite greeting, she said, "Today I want to announce a big thing."
"Please invite Oliver Swift to the stage." My wife invited me formally. I was Oliver.
I stood up and went on stage in the envious eyes of everyone. What surprise was she going to give me today?
I knew that she had been going home less and less during this period of time. She was preparing a big move to give me a big surprise, which was an affirmation of my silent efforts behind the scenes.
I stood on the stage and waved to the surroundings, which attracted warm applause. Then I pressed my palm and the applause stopped. I turned to face my wife and looked forward to her surprise.
My wife's assistant and her sister also came to the stage at this time, holding a document in her hand.
"Oliver, please sign the divorce agreement and give me my freedom."
My wife spoke and her sister handed me the document. The big words "divorce agreement" on it hurt my eyes.
The whole audience was silent and I was stunned on the spot. She asked me to sign the divorce agreement in such a lively occasion.
I was really confused, why?
Even if we really want to divorce, why must we choose such an occasion? I asked myself that I took good care of her and gave in to her in everything.
Why did she want a divorce?
"Why?" I asked unwillingly.
"Why? You dare to ask?" My wife's sister rolled her eyes at me coldly, "Ask yourself what you are? My sister works hard every day, but you are happy at home all day. What help have you given to the development of the company?"
"Do you think a waste like you is worthy of my sister?"
"Do you really think I am not worthy of you?" I stared at Stella.
I just wanted her answer, so I asked her again, "Answer me, Stella. Don't let the dog next to you bark."
