He was sitting on the edge of the couch, fists balled at his sides, eyes bloodshot like he hadn’t slept. His jaw clenched. His breathing ragged. Something ugly swimming in his face. Before I could speak— He slapped me.
Hard. My head snapped sideways. My lip split against my tooth. I tasted iron and betrayal in the same second.
“After poisoning Zoraya’s water and switching her vitamins to abortion pills you still have the guts to come back here?”
I staggered back, blinking, heart thudding so loud I couldn’t hear straight.
“She collapsed after the party. Vomiting. Convulsing. She’s in the fucking hospital, Savannah.”
He stepped closer, towering, fists trembling.
“You wanted her dead, didn’t you?!”
The accusation ripped through me. I just stood there, bleeding, shaking, staring into the eyes of the man who once said he loved me more than loyalty itself.
“You’re going there,” he snarled, “and you’ll get on your fucking knees and beg.”
I touched my lip. Blood smeared my fingertips. My voice was cracked when I finally spoke.
“You really believe I’d do that to your fucking mistress?”
“You dragged her into my house, Zeus. My bed. My life. Did I say a word? Did I scream? You didn’t see me cry. You didn’t care. And now I’m the villain?”
He didn’t answer. Didn’t blink. He just grabbed my wrist. Rough. Possessive. Like I was an object.
He dragged me out the door. Down the steps. Into the car.
The moment the door shut, I breathed in deep, looked straight ahead, and whispered what I should’ve said long ago.
“LET'S BREAK UP! I’m... I'm done, Zeus. Done with all of this.”
He turned his head slowly. His voice was flat. Distant. “Not until you kneel in front of Zoraya.”
“Not until she forgives you.” A pause. “Then you can crawl out of my life.”

Zoraya was alone in the room. Pale. Hooked up to IVs. Eyes glassy with fake innocence. She looked up when we walked in like she hadn’t been expecting this performance all day.
Zeus gave me a look colder than winter in hell.
“Do it. Kneel. Tell her you’re sorry for trying to kill my child.”
I flinched. The words hit harder than his hand ever could. I shook my head slowly, lips trembling, not because I wanted to fight—but because I couldn’t believe this was real.
“I didn’t…” I swallowed the lump in my throat. “Zeus please, I didn’t do anything.”
