Jessica unconsciously clenched her fists. Her expression panicked. Damien patted her shoulder to comfort her. He then stared at me with his head down.

“Eugenia, do you have to be so ruthless like this?”

At this point, Uncle Walter also noticed something was amiss. His gaze shifted between me and Jessica.

Jessica continued to defend herself, “Uncle, please turn it off first. Human life is more important!”

Uncle Walter, who had already recognized me, looked at me with a troubled expression. “After all, there are several people upstairs...”

I said, “Uncle, let them come down.”

I looked at my watch. There were less than three minutes left until the aftershock from the previous life occurred.

Even if they were lucky enough to come down, according to Jessica's reckless behavior, there would definitely be other opportunities. Everyone was watching now, so there was no need to tamper with things here.

After the power was turned on, Damien immediately got into the elevator. As soon as we reached the ground floor, he slapped me across the face without caring about my broken leg.

The blow left me seeing black spots. The blood trickled from the corner of my mouth.

“You wicked woman. Do you want us all to die up there before you're satisfied?”

I looked at Damien in disbelief. I never expected him to attack me.

“It was Jessica who impersonated me first.”

I touched my swollen face, which had been hit by my own husband and replied with a laugh sarcastically, “If it weren’t for me, Uncle Walter wouldn’t have bothered with you at all. You’ll still have to beg me to turn on the power.”

After confirming the elevator was functioning normally, the rest of the people took the elevator down. The looks in their eyes were filled with mockery and scorn at me.

The aftershock didn't happen. Out of everyone, only I had broken my leg. I looked utterly disheveled.

Jessica with her meticulously applied makeup. She was particularly eye-catching in the crowd.

She walked over to Damien's side. She linked her arm with his arm.

She then said arrogantly to me, “Eugenia, if you had listened to Damien's advice back then, you wouldn't have ended up like this.”

She gloated over my predicament. Uncle Walter felt sorry for my injuries, but he was still worried about his own family. After leaving me his phone number, he left with the other colleagues.
