I laughed. “How thoughtful! She told you to reveal it on the wedding day, so I’d sit there in my dress like a fool. Wasn’t that just to humiliate me?”
“Nonsense! Emily isn’t as cunning as you think!”
I gave a bitter smile. “Not scheming? She’s faked suicide countless times since coming home. Anyone who truly wants to die doesn’t need saving!”
“Shut up! How can you talk about your sister like that!” Dad raised his hand to hit me, but Mom stopped him.
“Stop! Katherine’s badly hurt. Don’t hit her.”
“Dad, I’m your daughter too. You raised me with love. Just because I’m not your biological child, doesn’t mean I don’t deserve your trust.”
“You said your sister had you beaten? Do you expect me to believe such a lie?”
Emily gasped and collapsed. “Katherine, how could you accuse me like that? Are you trying to kill me?”
I sneered. “If you want to die so badly, come to the rooftop with me. Let’s die together.”
Albert was furious. He grabbed my neck and snarled, “If you want to die, go ahead. If you provoke Emily again, I’ll kill you right now!”
He almost choked me. Just when I thought I’d die, he let go and spat, “Get out of here! I’m sick of looking at you!”
I stepped toward the elevator. “I’ll leave! You’ll never see me again.”
"Katherine, where are you going? The door's that way."
Mom ran after me, but Dad stopped her. “Don’t worry about her. She can go. Emily’s wedding is more important.”
The family was busy comforting Emily, unaware I had reached the hotel rooftop. From there, I was just one step away from home.
I waited for the timer. I had to jump at the system’s set time to go home. Someone saw me and called the police, who arrived fast and set up a safety cushion below.
The wedding ended and as the Blake Family escorted guests out, they saw someone about to jump.
My brother was furious. “Who’s crazy enough to jump from my hotel on my sister’s wedding day?”
“Mr. Blake, it’s Miss Katherine!”
Their expressions changed. Albert laughed. “Katherine? She’s just faking it. If she really dies, I’ll eat shit!”
Emily collapsed into Albert’s arms, crying. “Why won’t Katherine leave me alone? Why does she want me dead? Maybe I shouldn’t have come back. I shouldn’t be alive!”
Albert held Emily and said, “Mom, Dad, send Katherine away. Emily will never be okay while she’s here.”
Dad nodded seriously. “Tell the police to remove the air cushion. Katherine won’t jump. She just wants attention.”
