"Is this the three-day secret livestream you wanted? Do you have any idea how much the chat has been scolding you in the past two days?"
“Your mother’s gone above and beyond for you. Are you deliberately asking to be scolded?"
I glanced toward the living room, where my mother sat alone, tending to her wound. Then I said with a calm voice, “There's still one more day left. By then, you’ll understand everything.”
Early on the third morning, right after she woke up, Mom came to my room like always.
.
"Kelly, how are you feeling today? Do you have a better appetite?”
She checked my condition with practiced ease while asking softly.
I didn't answer, only glancing indifferently at her bandaged hand. Blood was still seeping from it.
Seeing my silence, my mother massaged my limbs as usual, moved my joints and prevented muscle atrophy. Her movements were gentle, as if tending to her most precious treasure.
"Kelly, look how beautiful the weather is today. After breakfast, how about I push you outside for a walk? The doctor said that having more outdoor activity will be good for you.”
She looked out the window, trying to find something to talk about.
I remained indifferent. “Don’t want to.”
She paused for a moment and said nothing.
After the massage, she fetched warm water, carefully washed my face and hands, then prepared my meal.
The live stream comments continued to roll.
[That daughter is still acting miserable today. I'm so angry seeing her.]
[That's true. Her mother's hands are badly injured and she still has to take care of her. Can't she even say one word of concern?]
[It’s so disgusting. Some people just don't deserve kindness!]
That day, Mom didn't go to work. She said she wanted to spend quality time with me.
After she finished doing her chore, she pushed me out to the balcony to bask in the sun.
She combed my hair, trimmed my nails and cleaned my ears, making sure that every inch of my body was clean.
When she was done, she pulled up a small stool beside me, held my hand tightly and began to speak in a low voice.
"Kelly, do you remember when you were a child, you loved pulling me to sit on the balcony and bask in the sun. You said that your mood would get better after basking in the sun.”
“We were poor back then, but you always said that as long as Mom and Dad were by your side, you felt incredibly happy.”
“You also said that when you grew up, you'd take Mom around the world...”
