My Wicked Wife Tried to Kill Me, So I Exposed Her Secrets in PublicChapter 1
After ten years together, this was the first time my wife ignored my allergies and still bought a salted egg croissant.
I lay awake the entire night thinking of it. By the next day, when we went to my in-laws' house to deliver Thanksgiving gifts, I finally asked for a divorce in front of everyone.
They were all surprised.
My wife slammed a plate of food in my face and yelled, "Just because I bought the wrong croissant, you want a divorce? Isn't that ridiculous?"
Ignoring the food dripping from my face, I replied coldly, "Don't you dream every day that a man who eats salted egg yolk croissants has good taste? Well, I'm granting your wish now!"
——
"Neil Guzman! Do you have no shame? We've been together for ten years and you want to divorce me just because I bought the wrong flavor of croissant?"
Cynthia's voice was hoarse as she questioned, her eyes already red with tears.
"What? Isn't one time enough?" I sneered, tossing out the divorce agreement I had prepared. "Sign it and we'll go to City Hall today."
Cynthia, who had been furious just a moment before, suddenly fell silent. Her eyes briefly showed signs of shock and panic. She certainly didn't expect me to be so determined.
My in-laws were dumbfounded, too. None of them imagined a day like this would actually come.
After all, Cynthia and I had once received the neighbourhood's Model Couple Award. All our friends and family knew that our love had been as strong as ever for ten years.
"Neil, it's just a small matter, isn't it? You've gone too far."
Cynthia's adopted brother, Jackson, finally couldn't hold back anymore and stood up.
"Back when you offended those thugs and they smashed up your restaurant, Cynthia was the one who helped you settle it. Otherwise, who knows where you'd be begging for food right now?"
"And four years ago, when you had a high fever and seizures in the middle of the night, Cynthia drove you to the hospital while heavily pregnant. Later, she accidentally fell and lost the baby. Since then, she hasn't been able to have children."
"Every single one of these is a debt you owe her!"
Each accusation he said, drawing nods of agreement from my parents-in-law.
"Neil, we've always treated you like our own son. Cynthia is devoted to you and works hard for you. You must never forget where you came from!"
